________________ Shri Sushil Kumar Ji was born on 15th June 1926 to Shri Sunehra Singh and Shrimati Bharati Devi in the village of Shikohpur (later renamed Sushil Garh in his honour) in Haryana. When Sushil Kumar Ji was a young boy, Shri Roop Chand Ji Maharaj appeared to him in spirit and told him to become a monk. (Shri Roop Chand Ji Maharaj, who left his body 100 years ago, was a great yogi and enlightened master.) So Sushil Kumar Ji left home in 1934 at the tender age of 8 years and went to live with a Jain monk Shri Chhote Lal Ji Maharaj, who later became his living religious guru. At the age of 15, he was initiated as a Jain monk in the Sthanakwasi sect on 20th April 1942 in Jagraon in Punjab. His diksha Guru was the revered saint mentioned above Shri Chhote Lal Ji Maharaj. Rev Shri Sushil Kumar Ji pursued an academic career and obtained the degrees of Shastri,Acharya, Vidya Ratna, and Sahitya Ratna. Acharya Shri Sushil Kumar Ji Maharaj was a self realized master, well known for his practice of the effects of sound on spiritual progress and his teachings of the Arhum Yoga system. Arhum Yoga is an ancient system for the mastery of the inner self through watchfulness and direct perception. It encompasses all aspects of philosophy and yogic practice in the Arihanta tradition. It includes the "Eight Steps of Yoga", sound vibration, healing, awakening of the kundalini and all divine powers, color science, holistic health, the concepts of ahinsa, anekantavada, and the perfection of the soul. This knowledge is based on the "mantrika vidya" (science of letters) of the Namokar Mantra, which is the foremost mantra in the Jain tradition holding much secret knowledge. Rev. Shri Sushil Kumar Ji was literally a giant among men. He had a towering physical and spiritual presence and exuded a sense of great power. From a young age, he started gaining recognition for his work of promoting religious unity among all the religious groups in India.
