in Jain dharma. In the dharma of Lord Mahavir, all castes are welcome. Khastriyas, Brahmins , Vaishyas and Shudras - all 4 castes were all treated equally in those days. I want to tell you that all our Tirthankaras were Kshatriyas and all the Ganadhars of Lord Mahavir were Brahmins and they coexisted in harmony. Now we are stuck in a conflict between castes- even to the extent that in the elections, caste plays the leading role in getting votes for a candidate. Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma: What has Lord Mahavir said about how to ensure progress for the nation? Acharya Shri Amrender Muni Ji: About national development and national protection Lord Mahavir has said something which is extremely noteworthy.
He has given a list of Ten religious commandments in the Sthanang Sutra and said that every individual should be alert to the interest of the nation as his personal dharma.
In the Pratikraman Sutra there is a direct instruction for the practising householder that he should not undertake any action which is injurious to the national interest.
An individual who harms his nation is the worst citizen.
