Trying to Maintain a balance in Turbulent Circumstances
On the sudden demise of Rev Shri Sushil Kumar Ji on 22nd April 1994 the whole community was cast into gloom and despair. There was an outpouring of love and affection from around the world for this great saint and condolences poured in from the President of India, Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma, Shri PV Narasimha Rao the Prime Minister of India, the United Nations , UNICEF, the Jain Center of America and others.
The towering presence of Sushil Muni Ji was like an umbrella under which his devotees would take shelter. Now that this protection was gone they felt bereft and alone. It was a very difficult time for young Amrender Muni Ji as well. He was the foremost disciple of Rev Shri Sushil Kumar Ji and so the responsibility to carry on his work now rested on his shoulders. At that time there was a lot of divisiveness among the group which made his task even harder. Circumstances and people put obstacles in his path and he had to overcome many challenges. However the presence of his Guru made itself felt in Shri Amrender Muni Ji's heart and gave him the strength to bind the group together and carry the work forward.
Lord Mahavir has said that one who is able to maintain a balance in happiness and sorrow is a true saint. Saints do not care for praise or criticism, fame or disgrace, happiness or sorrow, life or death. They remain balanced in the most trying circumstances. Amrender Muni Ji is such a saint. He is unaffected by criticism and believes in carrying everyone with him as a group. This quality was severely tested after his Guru left his body.
