needed Carbon Dioxide which it got from the snake. Thus they were both helping each other. The moral of this story is that all life is interdependent. Life thrives on support from other living things. This principle of Bhagwan Mahavir’s should be part of our daily lives.
Avoid becoming arrogant:
Mahavir Ji says that a person who is arrogant, or who is full of his own praises, who desires name and fame, is destined to take birth again and again in this world, and experience its sorrows. Pride leads to one's downfall. When one is centered in one's ego, then one is far away from awakening one's consciousness. The behaviour that arises from ego centredness takes one away from humane values towards the other end of the spectrum. Ego pollutes the spirit of sadhana and gives rise to all sorts of negativities. The different forms of ego incude negation of oneself, self hate and self pity.
The importance of mantra repetition:
Everyone agrees that mantra jap is very important. There is a potent power hidden inside the mantra which cannot be explained in words but can be experienced by repeating the mantra. This power can only be experienced and not explained. For those who believe in it, there is no need to explain. For the others, well, they will just have to try it and
see.
The deer has musk in its navel.... whoever wants to experience the fragrance of the musk, will have to make an effort to do so. However this much I do want to say that nowadays even scientists have testified to the power of the mantra.
The word is God. Words have power. There is vibration in sound which has a powerful effect.
