इति पण्डितपुण्डरीकेन श्रीककलोपदेशेन तत्वप्रकाशिका वृत्तिः श्रीदेवसूरिपादपद्मोपजीविना गुणचन्द्रेण स्वपरोपकारार्थं श्रीहेमचन्द्रव्याकरणाभिप्रायेण प्राणामि ॥
The correction in the third Pada is by Weber. As regards the name Kakala-Kakkala-Käkalla, compare that of the last Rastrakita-king of Manyakheta, who, in the inscriptions, is called Karka, Kakka, Kakkara or Kakkala, see Fleet, The Dynasties of the Kanaress Districts, p. 38. It may further by mentioned that, according to the Prabandhacintamani, p. 169, Kakala was present at Devasüri's disputation and solved, by a reference from Sakaṭayana's Grammar, the question of whether the form kot for koti would be correct. The Prabhavakacaritra attributes the same feat to Utsahapandita.

Neither in the Chandonus'asana nor in the Alamkaracudamani are we told that the Kogas were completed. They only speak of the Sabdanus'asana, just as in the Introduction to the Abhidhanacintamani. If one does not wish to assu.ne that Hemacandra wrote the Kosas and the Rhetorics at the same time, then it is probable that he regarded the Kogas as belonging to the Etymology, and therefore did not think it necessary to make special mention of them. This is suggested also by the Prabhavakacaritra. The S'abdanus'asana is mentioned in the Alamkaracudamani I, 2:
शब्दानुशासनेस्माभिः साध्व्यो वाचो विवेचिताः । तासामिदानीं काव्यत्वं यथावदनुशिष्यते ॥ २ ॥
In the Commentary written by himself, Hemacandra remarks:
.......अनेन शब्दानुशासनकाव्यानुशासनयोरेककर्तृत्वम् चाह । अत एव हि प्रायोगिकमम्यैरिव नारभ्यते ।
To the "others" there belongs, for instance, Vamana who enumerates the ungrammatical forms prevalent among the poets.

For the Dayas' raya, I have before me, besides the oft-quoted, very good extract of K. Forbes in the 4th vol. of Indian Antiquary,-a MS, of the Vienna University Library, which contains the first ten Sargas besides the Commentary of Abhayatilaka.

Before this story there is, in the Prabhavakacaritra XXII, 117-129 a story of a bard, who praised Hemacandra in an Apabhrams'a-verse and received a large reward for it. Merutuhga, Prab. Cint. pp. 235-236, relates something similar, which is supposed to have happened during Kumarapala's reign.

It is not said there which king he served. However, the probability is that he lived under Kumarapala.
Hemarandra's simile was, according to the Prabhavakacaritra, contained in the following verse
