[The Eighteenth Prabhrita]
[167]
Some say thus - 10. The sun is ten thousand yojanas high in height, and the moon is half a yojana less, some say thus.
Some say thus - 11. The sun is eleven thousand yojanas high in height, and the moon is half a yojana less, some say thus.
These are to be understood in this manner - 12. The sun is twelve, and the moon is half a yojana less than thirteen, 13. The sun is thirteen, and the moon is half a yojana less than fourteen, 14. The sun is fourteen, and the moon is half a yojana less than fifteen, 15. The sun is fifteen, and the moon is half a yojana less than sixteen, 16. The sun is sixteen, and the moon is half a yojana less than seventeen, 17. The sun is seventeen, and the moon is half a yojana less than eighteen, 18. The sun is eighteen, and the moon is half a yojana less than nineteen, 19. The sun is nineteen, and the moon is half a yojana less than twenty, 20. The sun is twenty, and the moon is half a yojana less than twenty-one, 21. The sun is twenty-one, and the moon is half a yojana less than twenty-two, 22. The sun is twenty-two, and the moon is half a yojana less than twenty-three, 23. The sun is twenty-three, and the moon is half a yojana less than twenty-four, 24. The sun is twenty-four, and the moon is half a yojana less than twenty-five, some say thus - 25. The sun is twenty-five thousand yojanas high in height, and the moon is half a yojana less than twenty-six, some say thus.
We, however, say thus - In this Ratnaprabha earth, the regions of the earth's surface extend to seventy-two hundred yojanas upwards, and they move about in the lower Taravimanas. From the Chandravimana, they rise up twenty yojanas upwards and move about in the upper Tararupas. Similarly, in the longitudinal and latitudinal dimensions, they move about in the innumerable Jyotisavisaya, the region of luminous bodies, extending to ten hundred yojanas in breadth. The reasons for the unequal and equal nature of the stars are ninety. There are, indeed, among the devas of the moon and the sun - some who are inferior to the Tararupas, some who are equal, and some who are equal as well as inferior to the Tararupas.
