प्राकृत-सुकरत्नमाला।
It is better to swallow poigon, to enter into fire or live in company of snakes ; but it is not desirable to keep company of those who have gone astray,
सा साई तं च जलं पत्त-विसेसेण अंतरं गरु। अहि-मुह-पडि गरलं सिप्पि-उडे मुत्तियं होई ॥ ३६॥
सा स्वातिस्तञ्च जलं पात्रविशेषेणान्तरं गुरु । अहिमुखपतितं गरलं शुक्तिपुटे मौक्तिकं भवति ॥ ३६॥
The water (raia-water) falling, when the Svati (the star Arcturus) is in the ascendant, produces different effects on diffərent things ; if it drops in the mouth of a snake, it becomes venom, while falling into the hollow of a mother-of-pearl shell, it is transformed into a pearl.
