प्राकृत-सूकरत्नमाला।
Poetry is like a pearl, pure by its very nature and when composed of sweet-sounding letters (in case of pearl, set in gold ) and dropped into the orifices of the ears of the audience (in case of pearl, worn on the ears) manifesta its excellence.
सज्जनः।
The Virtuous. छिनउ सीसं अह होउ बंधणं चयउ सव्वहा लच्छी। पडिवन-पालणे सुपुरिसाण जं होइ त होउ ॥ ३॥
छिद्यतां शीर्षमथ भवतु बन्धनं त्यजतु सर्वथा लक्ष्मीः । प्रतिपन्न-पालनेषु पुरुषाणां यद्भवति तद्भवतु ॥३॥
The good always fulfil their promises, come what may viz : they may be beheaded, imprisoned or utterly depri. ved of their wealth.
अभणतावि नजति सुपुरिसा गुणगणेहिं नियएहिं । किं बुल्लति मणीओ जाओ सहस्सेहि धिप्पंति ?॥४॥
अभणन्तोऽपि शायन्ते सुपुरुषा गुणगणैर्निजैः । किं कथयन्ति मणयो याः सहस्रान्ते ॥४॥
