The goddess Saraswati is also worshipped during last three days of Navaratri starting from Mahalaya Amavasya (the new moon day). On the ninth day that Mahanavami, books and the musical instruments and the puja is concluded on the tenth day of Navaratri festival, a very significant day
known as Dassera or (Vijaya Dasami- Vidya-aarambham day).
In Pushkar in Rajasthan, a temple has been made in her name on a mountain higher than that of Lord Brahma's. The true Guru will command to leave behind wordly desire and true desire to fully experience of the very Passion of God. Saraswati is the Art hidden in a still pool at the source of the flow. Vak or Vac is the voice revealed as the waters swiftly flow on (and return again to the ocean). Saraswati is the beginning and the end of this Art; and Saraswati is Vak.
In Mahabharata there is a story that the sage Uthathyka, the younger brother of Brahaspati cursed the river Saraswati that she will get dry and will never have any physical manifestation of her any form. But Brahaspati requested his brother to alter his curse but his answer was she will dwell in the mind and tongue of the aspirant i.e. worshipper. Her shrine will be knowledge and her temple will be eloquence. She is the goddess of vidya or learning. In Sanskrit it is said:
"SAA VIDYAA YA VIMUKTAYE"
OR THAT WHICH LIBERATES IS LEARNING
SARASWATI HERSELF IS LIKE LOTUS - PURE AND SERENE.
When Mata Saraswati graces the devotee, he or she gets this virtue and she imparts the knowledge of wisdom for wisdom to differentiate right from wrong and good from bad. She is supreme in all directions and represents power of concentration in the mind and control over the mind.
Saraswati is Brhamani the power -word of Brahma. Saraswati is Water and Wisdom in all of her true forms. Saraswati is the immortal flow of Eternal Dharma.
