A Noted Ambassador of Indian art & culture in the United States for the last 33 years with a dynamic and versatile personality Founder-President Director of Shikshayatan Cultural Center Inc. Shikshayatan was established on Thursday, Oct. 20, 1988 -Vijayadashmi Day. The purpose of this institute is to disseminate, promote and advance the language, music, dance, arts, crafts, sewing, painting, calligraphy, literature, and cooking of India, and to promote and advance generally the culture, heritage and traditions of India for those who wish to trace their ancestry and heritage. Since 1988 through Shikshayatan, she is fully dedicated and devoted to fulfill the cultural aspiration of people with her husband Shri Ashok C. Desai and her three daughters Komal, Tejal and Kaveeta and many well wishers. Highly educated woman with degrees of B.A. (Edu.Hons)., C.C.O.S.W., M.B.A., Real Estate Management., Computer Programming., Music and Dance. Born in a Brahmin family in Calcutta, India on February 24, 1949 and lived in Calcutta for 18 years, Delhi 4 years, Bombay one year and New York 33 years. Attained many great qualities from her close association with late grandfather Shri L.K. Desai, her grandmother late Smt. Mani Desai, her father Shri D. P. Desai, and her mother Smt. Bhanumati, who was especially her greatest inspiration besides her association with Late Prime Minister Shri Morarji Desai, Shri G.L. Mehta, Dr. H. B. Desai, Dr. P.G. Shukla, Dr. P. Jayaraman, and many other Scholars.
