SHETH DEVCHAND LALBHAI JAIN PUSTAKODDHAR FUND SERIES. No. 19.
PREFACE.
The contents of the following pages are the Sutras of the Panch Pratikramana (Gaga HOT) a sort of expiatory ritual to be undergone by Jains, twice a day, every fortnight, every four months, and annually. The importance of a book like this for the Jains can hardly be exaggerated. As a work like this is necessarily of daily use, there have been numerous editions of the same, already available for use. But in the edition we are bringing out, we have introduced such changes and additions as our learned priests have advised us to do, on comparison of old manuscripts and Sanscrit commentaries.
The utmost possible care has been taken to avoid insertion of any mistakes in print and otherwise ; yet we crave the indulgence of our readers for any that may yet be remaining through oversight.
Our thanks are due to those Sadhus who have helped us in this publication in more ways than one, but our special thanks are to Mr. Valabhdas Hava of Shrimad Yashovijayji Jain Sanskrit Pathshala of Mehsana.
This volume is the 'nineteenth' of our series.
