तइयं अज्झयणं : चाउरगिज्ज तृतीय अध्ययन : चतुरंगीय
चत्तारि परमंगाणि, दुल्लहाणीह जन्तुणो ।
माणुसत्तं सुई सद्धा, संजमंमि य वीरियं ॥१॥ इस लोक (संसार) में प्राणियों के लिए (मोक्ष प्राप्ति के साधन) चार अंगों की प्राप्ति होना दुर्लभ है-(१) मनुष्यत्व (मानव गति की प्राप्ति) (२) मोक्षप्रदायक सद्धर्म को सुनना (३) उस पर श्रद्धा और (४) संयम में पराक्रम ॥१॥
Four essentials of supreme importance are very difficult to attain in this world by living beings : (1) human birth-humanity (2) listening to the true religion, which is helpful in attaining liberation (3) Faith in it and (4) Endeavour in self control-restrain (1)
समावन्नाण संसारे, नाणा-गोत्तासु जाइसु ।
कम्मा नाणा-विहा कटु, पुढो विस्संभिया पया ॥२॥ यह संसारी जीव अनेक प्रकार के कर्म करके तथा उन कृत कर्मों के कारण विभिन्न प्रकार की जाति और गोत्रों में उत्पन्न होता है। इस प्रकार यह लोक के प्रत्येक प्रदेश का स्पर्श कर लेता है ॥२॥
This mundane soul doing various deeds, and due to those done deeds, takes birth in different kinds of classes (जाति) and lineages (गोत्र). In this way it touches (boms and dies) every space-point of three worlds. (2)
एगया देवलोएसु, नरएसु वि एगया । एगया आसुरं कायं, आहाकम्मेहिं गच्छई ॥३॥ एगया खत्तिओ होई, तओ चण्डाल-वोक्कसो ।
तओ कीड-पयंगो य, तओ कुन्थु-पिवीलिया ॥४॥ अपने किये हुए कर्मों के अनुसार कभी यह जीव देवलोक में देव बनता है, कभी नरक में नारक रूप से उत्पन्न होता है और कभी असुर बन जाता है ॥३॥ ___ कभी यह जीव क्षत्रिय कुल में जन्म लेता है तो कभी चाण्डाल और वर्णसंकर के रूप में उत्पन्न होता है तथा यही जीव कभी कीट-पतंग तो कभी कुंथु और कभी चींटी आदि क्षुद्र योनियों में जन्म धारण करता है ॥४॥
According its own activities this mundane soul sometimes takes birth as a god in heaven, sometimes becomes hellish being in hell and sometimes takes the birth as demi gods (असुर). (3)
Sometimes they are born in warrior race, sometimes as hybrid (वोक्कस, वर्णसंकर) and at other time sinful person (GIUST), sometimes as moths and insects and sometimes very minute insects (कुंथु) (invisible with bare eyes) ants and other petty species (क्षुद्रयोनि). (4)
