सचित्र उत्तराध्ययन सूत्र in
देव - दाणव - गन्धव्वा, जख-रक्खस-किन्नरा ।
बम्भयारिं नमंसन्ति, दुक्करं जे करन्ति तं ॥१६॥ जो दुष्कर ब्रह्मचर्य का पालन करता है, उसे देव, दानव, गन्धर्व, यक्ष, राक्षस, किन्नर-सभी नमन करते हैं ॥१६॥
Who practises the pure celibacy, which is very difficult to observe; the gods, demons (दानव), gandharvas, yaksas (deities) raksasas and kinnaras pay homage to him. (16)
एस धम्मे धुवे निअए, सासए जिणदेसिए । सिद्धा सिज्झन्ति चाणेण, सिज्झिस्सन्ति तहावरे ॥१७॥
-त्ति बेमि यह ब्रह्मचर्यधर्म ध्रुव है, नित्य है, शाश्वत है और जिनोपदिष्ट है। इस ब्रह्मचर्यधर्म का पालन करके भूतकाल में अनेक जीव सिद्ध हुए हैं, वर्तमान में हो रहे हैं और भविष्य में भी सिद्ध होंगे ॥१७॥
-ऐसा मैं कहता हूँ। This law of celibacy is unchangeable, permanent and eternal, precepted by Jinas. By practising celibacy innumerable souls attained emancipation in past, attaining in present and will attain in future. (17)

विशेष स्पष्टीकरण
सूत्र ३-ब्रह्मचर्य के लाभ में सन्देह होना "शंका" है। अब्रह्मचर्य-मैथुन की इच्छा "कांक्षा" है। अभिलाषा की तीव्रता होने पर चित्तविप्लव का होना, विचिकित्सा है। विचिकित्सा के तीव्र होने पर चारित्र का विनाश होना, "भेद" है।
सूत्र ९-प्रणीत का अर्थ पुष्टिकारक भोजन है, जिससे घृत तथा तेल आदि की बूंदें टपकती हों। (चूर्णि)
Salient Elucidations Maxim 3-Suspicion about benefits of celibacy is doubt. Non-celibacy or wish of sexual intercourse is desire. Due to intensity of desire the frustration of mind is vicikitsă. Being sharp frustration of mind, the loss of conduct is bheda.
Maxim 9-Such a nourishing diet from which the drops of ghee or oil ooz is pranita food.
