कूणिक द्वारा भगवान की भाव वन्दना
राजा कूणिक की सभा में प्रवृत्ति निवेदक ने आकर सूचना दी महाराज ! आप जिनके दर्शन की सदा इच्छा रखते हैं, प्रार्थना करते हैं, वे श्रमण भगवान महावीर अपने श्रमण - शिष्यों के साथ विहार करते हुए चम्पानगरी के उपनगर में पधार गये हैं। शीघ्र ही पूर्णभद्र चैत्य में पधारेंगे।

भगवान के आगमन का समाचार सुनते ही राजा कूणिक अत्यधिक हर्षित हुआ। उसके मुख व नेत्र कमल की तरह खिल उठे। अत्यधिक हर्ष वश रोम-रोम पुलक उठा। शीघ्र ही सिंहासन से उठा । पादुकाएँ ( जूते) दूर उतारीं । खड्ग, छत्र, मुकुट व चँवर आदि हटाकर दूर रखे। दोनों हथेलियों का संपुट जोड़कर जिस दिशा में भगवान विराजमान थे उस दिशा में सात-आठ कदम सामने चलकर घुटने भूमि पर टिकाकर दोनों अंजलिपुट को मस्तक पर लगाकर नमोत्थुणं बोलते हुए भगवान की भाव वन्दना करता हुआ बोला- “ श्रमण भगवान महावीर को मेरी वन्दना हो। मैं यहाँ स्थित आपको वन्दना करता हूँ । आप जहाँ विराजित हैं, वहाँ स्थित मुझ को देखें।"
उक्त विधिपूर्वक महाराज कूणिक ने भगवान को भाव वन्दना की। महामंत्री आदि सभी अधिकारी भी हाथ जोड़कर वन्दना करते हैं।
OBEISANCE OF BHAGAVAN BY KUNIK
The reporter came to the court of king Kunik and informed-Sire ! The person whom you always desire to and pray to behold, that Shraman Bhagavan Mahavir has arrived with his ascetic disciples in a suburb of Champa city. He will soon come to the Purnabhadra Chaitya.

On hearing and learning the news of the impending arrival of Bhagavan Mahavir from his reporter, King Kunik was delighted. His face and eyes elated like a lotus. Every pore in his body was filled with ecstasy. He rose from his throne, put off his slippers, and removed his sword, umbrella, crown, whisks, etc. placing them apart. Joining his palms he took seven to eight steps in the direction where Bhagavan was stationed. He squatted placing his right knee on the ground. Touching his forehead with joined palms he recited the Namotthunam prayer and said "From my abode here I bow to Shraman Bhagavan Mahavir. Wherever he is stationed may he see me here."
With these words King Kunik paid obeisance mentally to Bhagavan. His prime minister and other officials also joined palms and paid homage. --Sutra 19-20
