not be identical with Devasüri himself (as was the latter known before his initiation in the Jaina monachical order), since both are mentioned separately by their proper names. Hence, he must be identical with Rāmacandra the principal disciple of Hemacandrācārya, who is thus proved beyond doubt to be his senior contemporary.
Thus, the date of Jinabhadrasūri falls between the last quarter of the twelfth and the third quarter of the thirteenth centuries of the Vikrama Era, i, e, about 1125-1225 A. D. of the Christian Era.
The problem of the identification of Jinabhadrasūri is also quite complicated in tbe present state of inadequate data. Thus, we find at least pine Jinabhadras recorded in the history of Jain literature or of Jaina monachism. They are :
(i) Jinabbadrasūri, the author of Upadeśamālākathā (V. Sam. 1204), who was promoted to sari-hood by Jinacandrasuri;70
(ii) Jinabhadra Kşamāśramana, the author of the Jitakalpasūtrai and Višesāvaśyaka,72 who flourished in the year V. Sam, 645;78
(iii) Jinabhadrasüri Maladhāri, one of the seven disciples of Hemacandra Maladharı;74
(iv) Jinabhadrasūri Siddbāntaruci, whose line of disciples runs as Abhayasoma-Harsaraja, the auther of a commentary on Jinavallabha's Sanghapataka (V. Sam. 1270);75
(v) Jinabhadra-gaại Yugapradhāna, who lived in V. Sam. 1115;76
(vi) Jinabhadrācārya, a contemporary of the Cālukya King Kumārapala and his minister Yaśodhavala, and for whose sake the Kalpacūrņi was copied on a palm-leaf in Anabilapaitana in V. Sam. 1218;77
(vii) Jinabhadrasūri, who was initiated along with Bhavacandra and Vijayacandra by Jipapatisūri in V. Sam. 1266 at Vikramapura;78
