1 = eka<a sts. form in MIA., ekka<DIA. ēka ( 15/20 ) : eka = one person? : eka jā (15/27). The MIA. tbh. from eka>ea, is found in Assamese, e. g. e-tā>ea-vatta-<eka-vrtta- one piece', e-zan<ea-janas eka-jana 'one person', Gorkhali (Nepali) ye-uțā<eka-vrtta, but this expected eka>ea>e no longer current in most NIA., tHe sts. form eka>ekker->ek having taken its place. Locative or instrumental, eka, ekã : dui eka joda (= dvāv ekatro yautati, 43/17); dui ekā lāi sāpuda (dvāv api ekatra lāgayitvā samputati, 52/20); accusativebanuta eku bādati (=bahava ekam vatanti-vața ceştane, *3/24); plural-ketau eka=kiyanta eke (10/17); eka gadiāņa (15/29). ..
