सचित्र उत्तराध्ययन सूत्र
Even after enjoying these unrivalled human pleasures and comforts all their life, they attain pristine enlightenment as a consequence of the pure and righteous religious path followed in the past. (19)
चउरंगं दुल्लहं नच्चा, संजमं पडिवज्जिया। तवसा धुयकम्मंसे, सिद्धे हवइ सासए॥२०॥
-त्ति बेमि। इन चार अंगों को दुर्लभ जानकर तथा सर्वसावधविरत चारित्र रूप संयम को स्वीकार करके तपस्या द्वारा सर्व कर्मांशों की निर्जरा करके साधक शाश्वत सिद्ध हो जाता है॥ २० ॥
-ऐसा मैं कहता हूँ। Knowing these four essentials to be precious, the aspirant accepts the asceticdiscipline in the form of complete sinless conduct and through practice of austerities sheds all particles of karma to attain the liberated state of eternal perfection (Siddha state). (20)

FEATRE विशेष स्पष्टीकरण
गाथा १५-"पूर्व" शब्द जैन-परम्परा में एक संख्या विशेष का वाचक है। ८४ लाख को ८४ लाख से गुणा करने पर जो संख्या होती है, वह पूर्व है। अर्थात् ७० लाख छप्पन हजार करोड़ (७,०५,६०,००,००,०००) वर्षों को पूर्व कहते हैं।
गाथा १७-"कामस्कन्ध" का अर्थ है-काम अर्थात् मनोज्ञ शब्द-रूपादि के हेतुभूत पुद्गलों का स्कन्ध-समूह। भोग-विलास के मनोज्ञ साधन। (सुखबोधा) ____ "दास पौरुष" में आये दास का अर्थ है-"वह गुलाम, जो खरीदा हुआ है, जो क्रेता स्वामी की संपत्ति समझा जाता है।" दास और कर्मकर अर्थात नौकर में यही अन्तर है कि दास खरीदा हआ होने से स्वा सम्पत्ति है और कर्मकर वेतन लेकर अमुक समय तक काम करता है, फिर छुट्टी।

___Verse-17-Kaama-skandh means-Aggregate (skandh) ofpleasurable (kaama) words, colours, forms etc., in other words, the means of mundane pleasures and comforts.
The term daas and paurush mean slave and servant respectively. Slave is a person who is bought and is fully owned by the buyer. Servant is one whose services are bought. The difference is that a slave is the property of his owner, while a servant gets paid for the services rendered on contracted terms.
