विवेचन-भव्य-द्रव्यदेव आदि पाँच प्रकार के देवों का अर्थ और स्वरूप-जो क्रीड़ा : ॐ स्वभाव वाले होते हैं और जिनकी आराध्य रूप से स्तुति की जाती है, वे देव कहलाते हैं।
(१) भव्य-द्रव्यदेव-भव्य-द्रव्यदेव में द्रव्य शब्द अप्राधान्यवाचक है। भूतकाल में देव पर्याय . को प्राप्त हुए अथवा भविष्यकाल में देवत्व को प्राप्त करने वाले, किन्तु वर्तमान में देव के गुणों से ॐ शून्य होने के कारण वे अप्रधान होते हैं। अर्थात् भूतकाल में देवत्व पर्याय को प्राप्त हुए तथा भविष्य में # देवरूप में उत्पन्न होने वाले देव, 'द्रव्यदेव' कहे जाते हैं। इनमें से जो इस भव के बाद देवत्व को प्राप्त ॐ करने वाले हैं। वे ही भव्य-द्रव्यदेव कहलाते हैं।
(२) नरदेव-मनुष्यों में जो देव तुल्य-आराध्य और क्रीड़ा-कान्ति आदि. विशेषताओं से युक्त के चक्रवर्ती हैं, वे नरदेव कहलाते हैं।
(३) धर्मदेव-जो धर्म प्रधान रूपी श्रुत चारित्रादि से देव तुल्य हैं, वे धर्मदेव कहलाते हैं।
(४) देवातिदेव अथवा देवाधिदेव-पारमार्थिक देवत्व के कारण जो पूर्वोक्त सभी देवों को अतिक्रान्त (मात) कर गए हैं, वे देवातिदेव कहलाते हैं, अथवा पारमार्थिक देवत्व होने से जो देवों से अधिक श्रेष्ठ हैं, वे देवाधिदेव कहलाते हैं। तीर्थंकर देव देवाधिदेव कहलाते हैं।
(५) भावदेव-देवगति नाम कर्म के उदय से जो देवों में उत्पन्न हैं, जो देव पर्याय से देव हैं, और देवत्व का वेदन करते हैं, वे भावदेव कहलाते हैं। तीर्थंकर देव देवाधिदेव कहलाते हैं।
Elaboration-Five kinds of gods (Devs) - Those who are vivacious by nature and are praised as objects of worship are called Devs or gods. Here five classes are discussed
(1) Bhavya-dravyadev—Here the term dravya indicates commonality; in other words it deprives the concept of its divinity. Those who were born in the past or will be born in future in the divine realm but are not divine at present are called dravyadev. Only those who are destined to be born as gods after this birth are called Bhavya-dravyadev.
(2) Naradev—Those among men who are worshiped like gods and are endowed with vivacity, opulence and other god-like attributes, such as Chakravarti, are called Naradevs.
(3) Dharmadev—Those who are divine in terms of religion, knowledge of scriptures, conduct etc. are called Dharmadevs.
(4) Devadhidev_Due to their attaining the ultimate goal (of liberation), those who have become loftier than all other types of gods are called Devadhidevs. In simple terms, those who are better than all other gods are Devadhidevs. Thus Tirthankars are called Devadhidevs.
