lack of discrimination by the householder. Sixteen faults relate to acceptance. They are directly caused by the monk by lack of sense of discrimination. Ten faults relate to Eshana (Both the monk and the householder are responsible for these faults). Five faults relate to the caution concerning the way the article should be consumed sitting collectively (in mândala). (They occur in case the ascetic looks into the taste during consumption). Thus my soul might have been marred due to said forty seven faults of Eshana. I might have accepted the food and liquid in which there is likelihood of faults before its acceptance or after its acceptance. I might have offered such faulty food to others or I might have appreciated those who consume such faulty food. I might not have taken care of collecting only faultless food. I now retrieve myself from said forty seven faults. May my faults be absolved.
विवेचन : प्रस्तुत सूत्र में श्रमण की भिक्षा-विधि के दोषों की आलोचना का वर्णन है। इसमें उद्गम, उत्पादन, एषणा एवं ग्रासैषणा के दोषों का संकेत किया गया है। उद्गम के 16, उत्पादन के 16, एषणा के 10 एवं ग्रासैषणा के 5, ऐसे भिक्षा के 47 दोषों का विधान आगमों में हुआ है। 47 दोषों का संक्षिप्त स्वरूप इस प्रकार है
Elaboration: In the present sutra, the procedure of self-criticism of faults relating to collection of bhiksha by an ascetic is narrated. The faults relating to production (udgam), collection (utpadan), both (Eshana) and consumption have been mentioned in the scriptures (Agam). The brief description of 47 faults is as under: सोलह उद्गम दोष ___ गृहस्थ के निमित्त से ये दोष लगते हैं। . (1) आधाकर्म-साधु के निमित्त से बनाया हुआ भोजन लेना आधाकर्म दोष है।
(2) औद्देशिक-अन्य मतावलंबी साधुओं के लिए बनाया हुआ भोजन लेना। (3) पूतिकर्म-आधाकर्म आदि दोष से दूषित आहार का कण भी जिस आहार में मिला
हो, उसे ग्रहण करना। (4) मिश्रजात-ऐसा आहार जिसे गृहस्थ ने स्वयं के लिए एवं साधु के लिए मिश्रित संयुक्त
रूप से बनाया है, उसे ग्रहण करना। (5) स्थापना-साधु के लिए दूध और पानी आदि को अलग रखना, उस अलग से रखे
गए आहार को ग्रहण करना स्थापना दोष है।
