स्वकीय अस्वाध्याय में स्वाध्याय करने का प्रायश्चित्त THE ATONEMENT OF DOING "SWADHAYAY" AT SELF-DECIDED "ASWADHAYAYA" TIME 15. जे भिक्खू अप्पणो असज्झाइए सज्झायं करेइ, करेंतं वा साइज्जइ। 15. जो भिक्षु अपनी शारीरिक अस्वाध्याय में स्वाध्याय करता है अथवा स्वाध्याय करने वाले का
समर्थन करता है। (उसे लघुचौमासी प्रायश्चित्त आता है।) 15. The ascetic who does “Swadhayaya” over his own physical “non-study” times or
supports the ones who does so, a laghu-chaumasi expiation comes to him.
विवेचन-स्वयं का अस्वाध्याय दो प्रकार का होता है-व्रण सम्बन्धी और ऋतुधर्म सम्बन्धी। इसमें भिक्षु र के एक प्रकार का एवं भिक्षुणी के दोनों प्रकार का अस्वाध्याय होता है।
शरीर के फोड़े-फुन्सी, भगंदर, मसा आदि से जब रक्त या पीव बाहर आता है तब उसका अस्वाध्याय होता हैं उसकी शुद्धि करके 100 हाथ के बाहर परठकर स्वाध्याय किया जा सकता है। शुद्धि करने के बाद भी रक्त
आदि निकलता रहे तो स्वाध्याय नहीं किया जा सकता। किन्तु उसके एक दो उत्कृष्ट तीन पट वस्त्र के बाँधकर परस्पर आगम की वाचना ली दी जा सकती है, तीन पट के बाहर पुनः खून दिखने लग जाए तो फिर उन्हें शुद्ध र करना आवश्यक होता है।
ऋतधर्म का अस्वाध्याय तीन दिन तक रहता है। किन्तु व्यवहार सूत्र के उद्देशक 7 सूत्र 17 में अपने अस्वाध्याय में परस्पर वांचणी लेने देने का विधान किया गया है। उसकी भाष्य में विधि इस प्रकार बताई है कि रक्त आदि की शुद्धि करके आवश्यकतानुसार एक दो अथवा उत्कृष्ट सात वस्त्र पट लगाकर साधु-साध्वी परस्पर पर आगमों की वांचणी दे ले सकते हैं। प्रमाण के लिए देखें व्यव. उ.7, भाष्य गा. 390-394 तथा निशीथभाष्य गा. 6167-6170 तथा अभि. राजेन्द्र कोश भाग 1 पृ. 833"असज्झाइय" शब्द।
सूत्र 14 और 15 में वर्णित सभी अस्वाध्याय आगमों के देव वाणी में होने से उसके मूलपाठ के उच्चारण से रे ही सम्बन्धित जानने चाहिए।
अत: मासिक धर्म आदि अवस्था में आगमों के अर्थ वांचना या अनुप्रेक्षा, पृच्छा, व्याख्यान श्रवण आदि करने का निषेध नहीं है तथा गृहस्थ को सामायिक आदि संवर प्रवृत्ति एवं नित्य नियम तथा प्रभु स्तुति स्मरण करने का निषेध भी नहीं है।
Comments—There are two sorts of “Aswadhayaya” in ascetic conduct
1. Due to ailment, 2. Menstrual cycle related. Out of these two the monks are afflicted by one ‘non-study period', but the nun of both the Aswadhayaya.
While the blood and pus comes out of the body that time has been called an “Aswadhayaya time. After purifying it and discarding it at the distance of 100 cubit the "Swadhyaya" can be performed. Even after the cleaning if the blood etc. flows out, then the "swadhayaya” can not be done. But after tying it either with one, two or three clean clothes the delivering of discourses could be done mutually. The "Aswadhayaya" of menstrual cycle is fixed for three days. However, in the sutra seventeen of Chpater seven “Vyavahar Sutra" the rule of mutually studying is established at the time of her own "Swadhayaya". In its commentary the method has been told as such that cleaning the blood etc. making one, two or maximum seven fold of clothes according to the need the
