________________ clxxxvi Srāvakbhimi intrinsic character of the phenomenal objects containing (i) the notion of the self and proudiness (ātma sampragraha) and (ii) unsteadiness cāpalya) VI. Tyāga Tyāga has been explained as pure gift (dānam anavadyam) aimed for adorning the citta and its purification along with the acquisition of the ingredients of yoga and attainment of the inal Deliverance (nirvāņa). The following topics have been discussed in this context : (a) the agent of the act of giving (ko dadāti); the donor who is the master of the gift has been mentioned as the agent of the act of giving ; (b) the receipient of the (kutsa dadāti) the following categories of receipients have been enumerated : (i) a suffering (duhkita) person, (ii) a favourite (ista) person, (iii) a helping (upakārin) person, (iv) a distinguished (višişta) person ; (c) the object (vastu) of gift (kim dadāti): this has been stated to be : (i) sattva sarnkhyāta or enumerated (known) as a person, and (ii) asattva samkhyata or enumerated (known as other than a person, comprising-- (a) money (dhana-vastu), (b) grains (dhānya-vastu), (c) space of landed property (deśa-vastu); (d) the dātā donates the gift, being inspired by cetanā accompanied with non-averice (alobha-sahagatā);
