Notes
123 The words Âu 16-uzion T F O Fia-fuulform are a reminiscence from Utt. 3, 4: gut ana-uzion gran पिपीलिया.
Chifen seems to be an old mistake for UCHIEFANT. 6th Vow. Tha an etc. "food consistent" etc. This is the traditional meaning of the waray wiek (comp. Thānanga 2195). In the sequel, it will be rendered by "food of all kinds” or similarly. - __Conclusion of the Vows. एइयाई instead of एययाई, एतकानि.
IX. Grufu seems to be gas which is escaping from the earth and has been inflamed somehow. -XII. The substantive before दण्डग is spelt उण्डग, उण्डय, in Sanskrit 34607, B1907. H. gives no meaning, the Avacūri renders it by Ataq; for another attempt see below, 5, 1, 87. Considering that, in Jain texts, we meet with 5 () as well as with F5T, I suppose that we have to do with the
former word followed by the latter one which originally · may have been a gloss. 51571, then, would be not more than a misspelling, due to the similarity between 3 and 5.
Šloka 10. The metre (Vaitālīya) will be correct if in thes econd line we read yar fari afe. The last word has, apparently under the influence of afss = vieta, - been replaced by काही.
Fifth Chapter.
First Part. 5. ugat or, as the metre here required, uça, cannot be=quat but is =U&T (compare the present writer's edition of Āyāranga I, glossary).
10. yere must have been shortened from pure = oruña. On the other hand, waaa, in v. 26, has become first पाययण and then, by contraction, पायाण .
