Sandhi V मंजरी
The name of the metre is mentioned before every kadavaka-beginning stanza of this Sandhi in all mss. This metre is also used by स्वयंभू and पुष्पदंत. It is illustrated by Hemcandra: Chn. 4.61. तौ चितौ मजरी ॥ by a four-lined stanza in खञ्जक-प्रकरण. I. 1. The scheme: 3 +3+4+ 4 + 4 + 3 = 21 मांत्राs

is the correct reading. II I णवतारुण्ण रूवसोहग्गिहि मुणिमणहरणिया।
तासु। पुत्ति। सादा। हिण महु । रहो परि। णिया ॥ 1. 1. defective contains 25 मात्राs. The mss. throw no light. 1. 2. is correct.
The last syllable of the lines is always to be taken long. Some of the stanzas are defective in the fact that they contain 25 मात्राs instead of 21. e.g. 2a, 8a, 11a. Line 4a contains 3 मात्राs too many. Line : 10a मुणेवि for मुणिवि and णे to be taken long. 11b. सहुं जामा instead of 3 + 3 wholly 6 मात्राs. Otherwise the stanzas are prosodically correct. It is defined by Hemacandra in the खञ्जकप्रकरण Chn. 4.53 as खण्ड : चौ पः खण्डम् ॥ com : चतुर्मात्रद्वयं पत्रमात्रश्च खण्डं नाम खञ्जकम् ॥ The scheme: 4+4+ 5 = 13.
