तए णं से भगवं गोयमे खंदणं कच्चायणस्सगोत्तेणं सद्धि जेणेव समणे भगवं महावीरे तेणेव पहारेत्थ गमणाए । ते गं काले णं ते णं समए णं समणे भगवं महावीरे वियट्टभोई या वि होत्था । तए णं समणस्स भगवओ महावीरस्स वियट्टभोइस्स सरीरयं ओरालं सिंगारं कल्लाणं सिवं धण्णं मंगल्लं अणलं कियविभूसियं लक्खण- वंजण-गुणोववेयं सिरीए अईव अईव उवसोभेमाणं चिट्ठइ । तए गं से खंदए कच्चायणस्सगोत्ते समणस्स भगवओ महावीरस्स विट्टभोइस्स सरीरयं ओरालं जाव... अईन अईव उवसोभमाणं पासइ पासित्ता हट्ठ-तुट्ठचित्तमाणंदिए दिए पी मणे परमसोमणसिए हरिसवसविसप्पमाणहियए जेणेव समणे भगवं महावीरे तेणेव उवागच्छइ उवागच्छित्ता समणं भगवं महावीरं तिक्खुत्तो आयाहिण -पयाहिणं करेइ जाव... पज्जुवासइ ।
Then with Skandaka of the Katyayana line in his company, Bhagavan Gautama proceeded towards the place where Śramaņa Bhagavan Mahavira was. In that period, at that time, Śramaņa Bhagavān Mahāvīra used to take his meal everyday. His physical frame was noble, portending to welfare, safety, grace and happiness, beautiful even without adornment, bearing standard measures, good marks and high traits11, and looking extremely charming. Skandaka of the Katyayana line saw the physical frame of Sramaṇa Bhagavān Mahāvira, who was (then ) taking his meal everyday, and (whose physical frame) was noble,...till looking exceedingly charming, and seeing ( him ), he was delighted, happy in mind, pleased, overwhelmed with joy in mind, extremely thrilled and with his heart expanded with glee; and (both) reached the place where Śramaṇa Bhagavān Mahāvīra was. On reaching (near him), he paid his homage and obeisance to Śramana Bhagavān Mahāvira... till worshipped him.
खंदया ! -त्ति समणे भंगवं महावीरे खंदयं कच्चायणस्सगोत्तं एवं वयासीसे णूणं तुमं खंदया ! सावत्थीए नयरीए पिंगलएणं नियंठेणं वेसालियसावएवं इणमक्खेवं पुच्छिए -मागहा ! किं सअंते लोए अनंते लोए ? एवं तं चेव जाव... जेणेव ममं अतिए तेणव हव्वं आगए । से णूणं खंदया ! मट्ठे समट्ठे ? हंता अत्थि ।
