________________ CHAPTER VII The Birth place of Ford Mahavira. RO fter being taken out from the womb of Devananda, Lord Mahavira was now placed into the womb of Lady Trishala. She was the wife of a famous kshatriya chief named Siddhartha, who lived in a village named Kshatriya-Kunda. Kshatriya Kunda was a part of old Vaishali which was once the chief city of the Licchavis. Sidhartha had made it his capital. Although his territory was not very large still it excelled many kingdoms and territories in learning, culture and prosperity of its people. The modern village Lakhavad which is at present situated in Gaya district of Bihar Province is said to be the sight of the old village of Khatriya kunda.
