Kulkarni, formerly Professor of Sanskrit and Prakrit (Maharashtra Educational Service, Class I), Director of Languages, Maharashtra State, Mumbai, Director, B. L. Institute of Indology, Patan (now shifted to Delhi), Hon. Director, MM. Dr. P. V. Kane Institute, Asiatic Society of Bombay has taught Sanskrit and Prakrit Literature, Sanskrit Poetics and Aesthetics to Postgraduate students of various universities for several years.
