Author's Foreword
It will be helpful for us to think of this human body as a musical instrument having seven notes, seven different rates of vibration. Each note has its own unique place in music. If we are confined to playing only one note, the sound we produce will be monotonous. So, we are here to learn how to create the harmonious, melodious music of life. Through the guidance of a master, we can learn to play our own music with this instrument. We can learn to be independent music makers who will be a source of inspiration to others. If our instrument is to create beautiful, soothing music, the life-force must be able to move freely from note to note, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.
In ancient times, these seven centers were taught only to advanced students of meditation-those who had successfully completed a series of tests, those who had been initiated into an inner circle, or those who a master knew to be ready for the teaching. Only those students who have fully
