ledge inherent in them from birth, mentioning also Muni Suvrata's black complexion, the characteristic tortoise-mark on his body, his body-height of 20 'dhanu' (i.e., 80 cubits), and his age being 30,000 years.
The next stanzas, 8-14, describe the conventional 'Atisayas' and other supernatural phenomena believed to accompany a Tīrthankara's appearance ( as specified above).

Then follows, in st. 15, the list of Munisuvrata's five 'Kalyāṇakas', viz. :
(1) entering his mother's womb on Śrāvaṇa Pūrṇimā. (2) birth on the dark Aṣṭami of Jyeṣtha,
(3) initiation as a monk on the bright Dvādaśī of Phalguna, (4) attainment of omniscience on the dark Dvādaśī of Phāl
(5) 'nirvāṇa' on the dark Navami of Jyeṣṭhā.
With regard to all the above data of Muni Suvrata's life our poet agrees with a tradition represented by Somatilaka Suri's 'Saptatiśata-sthāna-prakaraṇa', as well as Dharmaghoṣa Suri's 'Munisuvrata-stotra', except that the latter has 'Sirikeu' instead of 'Sivakeu' as the name of Muni Suvrata's first incarnation. A poetical passage in Prabhācandra's 'Prabhavaka-carita' said to be quoted from the 'Agama' in illustration of Muni Suvrata's nine last existences3, likewise agrees regarding that subject, except that here, 'Pränata' (the tenth heaven) stands for 'Aparajita'. Another tradition, represented by Vimalasūri's 'Paumacaria', Hemacandracārya's 'Trṣaṣṭiśalākāpuruṣacarita's, and Jinaprabha Suri's 'Vividha-tirtha-kalpa", knows only of the three last existences of Muni Suvrata, which deviate from the former version in so far as here, the name of the first incarnation is 'Siridhammo' according to Vimalasūri, 'Suraśreṣthin' according to Hemacandra, and 'Surasiddha' according to Jinaprabha ( he is King of Campă in Aparavideha according to all three unanimously), while the second is that as a god in 'Prāṇata' (only Vimalasūri has 'Pupphottara' instead),
