________________ 208 Jaina Perspective in Philosophy and Religion This is very similar to our time, when there is strong opinion in favour of disarmament and world peace. It seems, nonviolence is a necessity, even today. We have to choose between Atom and Ahir sā, William James, therefore, calls for a 'moral equivalent of war'. It is not only an intellectual utopia but a concrete moral guide and social stabiliser. The all or the non-approach has brought us on the brink of total annihilation and social anarchy, hence the non-absolutistic approach in thought, word and deed is the only way before us.
