S. B. DEO NITHATI:
An epigraph dated V.S. 1496 from Udaypur refers to it.166
OSVALA :
It is mentioned in an epigraph167 dated V.S. 1100. It may be noted that Osvāla is a caste among the Jainas.
PALIKIYA :
Two inscriptions dated V.S. 1482 and 1686 from Rajputana mention it.168
One of these refers to the 'pallīkīy uddyotanācārya gaccha' which suggests a close relation between these two gacchas.
PALLI, ®KA, OVALA :
These are possibly identical as they seem to have originated at a place called Pallī in Rajputana.
Epigraphs mention it from the 15th to the 17th century of V.E.169 In one of the Praśastis, it is stated 'şandere pallikājyānayanamatha', which may indicate a relation between Sandera gaccha and this gaccha,170 or a place of that name.
It seems to have spread over Rajputana, Gujarat, and U.P.
PANCASARIYA :
An epigraph from Delhi dated V.S. 1125 mentions it. 171
It seems to have originated from the place-name 'pacāsarīya.'
PARSVACANDRA :
It is said that Pārsvacandra Sūri started it in V.S. 1572 out of the Tapā gaccha as there was difference of opinion regarding the rules of monastic conduct practised by the monks of the Tapā gaccha.172
