D.). 6) Bhaçţāraka Jinacandra, mentioned in Govinda's Puruşārthanuśasanam ( c. 15th century ? ). 7) Jinacandra, known as Bhattāraka Jinacandra, disciple of Subhacandra and teacher of Medhāví (15th century). : There should be many other Jinacandras, and nearly thirty Jinacandrasūris up to modern times are listed in the Descriptive catalogue of Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, V.17, pt. 5, p. 182-185. Now, from the known and inferred data, there are a few factors to be taken into consideration in identifying which Jinacandra is likely the teacher of our Bhāskara. nandi : 1) The teacher of our Jinacandra was called Sarva sadhu. 2) The hypothetical date of Bhaskaranandi falls in the early 11th through the early 12th century. Then, Jinacandra's date should be searched broadly somewhere in the late 10th through the late 11th century. 3) Bhaskaranandi is a Digambara pandit as he salutes Pujyapāda and Vidyānandi in his Vștti. Hence, Jinacandra must be a Digambara monk.. Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
