________________ (४८५) Stanza 115 - 3701299911: - royal roads (i. e. main streets). The word पथिन् , when used at the end of a compound, is changed to 94 and declined as a word ending in अ under the rule 'ऋक्पूरप्पथोऽत् '. युगान्ते - at the time of the destruction of the world. आपीततोयाः - with water drunk up. शूर्पोन्मेयान् –deserving to be or capable of being measured with winnowing baskets. तरलगुटिकान् - having big precious stones as the central gem. तरल - put at the centre of a necklace. गुटिकाः - big precious jewels. तारान् = शुद्धमौक्तिकवतः - having faultless [ or genuine ] pearls. कोटिशः -by crores, by tens of millions. Here, the termination शस् is affixed to the word Flič to imply repetition of the number to which it is affixed under the rule 'स्येकाद्वीप्सायाम् '.शङ्खशुक्तीः -conches and shells. उन्मयूखप्ररोहान् - shooting sprout-like rays upwards. Here, मयूख, the subject of comparison is compounded with TIE, the standard of comparison, under the rule 'व्याघ्रादिभिरुपमेयोऽतद्योगे'. शष्पश्यामान - as green as young grass. Here, शष्प, the standard of comparison, is compounded with 1417, the generic property, under the rule 'सामान्येनोपमानम् '. मकरतमणीन् - emerald gems. Some modern scholars are of the opinion that the stanza 'हारांस्तारान्-', being not read by वल्लभ and दक्षिणावते, is a later interpolation by some one, wishing to furnish a more detailed description of Ujjayini. But in my opinion, this view doos not hold good as this stanza is found in this work of Jinasena who was chronologically prior to both ash and दक्षिणावर्त.
