the word कलुष implies that कलुष is कर्म of हरण, a कृदन्त form, which does not give up the functioning of a verb under the rule कृदन्तं धातुत्वं न जहाति । हरतीति हरणं-The termination अनट् which is affixed to the root हृ implies the sense of a subject under the rule 'व्यानड् बहुलम् ।'. The dissolution कलुषस्य हरणं of the compound कलुषहरण is possible under 'कर्तृकर्मणाः कृति' । पुण्यपण्यषु-पणितुं योग्यं पण्यम् । पुण्येन पुण्यवद्भिर्वा पण्य पुण्यपण्यम् । पुण्यमस्त्यस्य पुण्यः। 'ओऽभ्रादिभ्यः' इत्यो मत्वर्थीयः Here the possessive termination 34 is affixed to the word gout under the rnle 'ओऽभ्रादिभ्यः' । जनकतनयास्नानपुण्योदकेषु- The waters which nad been rendered holy by the baths taken by the daughter of the king, Janaka.जनकस्य तनया जनकतनया। सीतेत्यर्थः । तस्याः स्नानैः पुण्यानि पवित्राणि च तान्युदकानि जलानि च । तेषु । लुब्धः -greedy of. Though Kamatha had got himself initiated into monkhood, he used to practise penance fraudulantly. He, therefore, instead of purging off sin, committed sin.
___Stanza4-जडधी:-dullard. जडा ज्ञप्तिक्रियायां मन्दा धीः बुद्धिः यस्य सः । उपलवान्-having a stone. उपलः अस्य अस्तीति उपलवान् । Here the possessive termination AL, affixed to the word 397 under the rule 'तदस्यास्तीति मतुः', is changed वत् under the rule ' ममोङ्झयो मतोर्वोs यवादेः ।' ऊर्वशोषं प्रशुष्यन् parching the upper parts of his body. Here the termination TH is affixed to the root 34 which is preceded by the word ऊर्ध्व under the rule ' ऊर्ध्वं शुष्पूरेः' । उद्बाहुः =with his arms raised high up. उद्गतो बाहू यस्य सः । परुषमननः = absorbed in cruel thoughts. परुषं मननं यस्य सः । परुष-cruel. रामगिरि-This mountain is identified with रामटेक which is near नागपूर by some scholars and by others with the रामगड hill in Central Provinces. स्निग्धच्छायातरुषु-स्निग्धाश्च ते छायातरवश्च स्निग्धच्छायातरवः । तेषु = in the groves of Namera trees possessing thick shadows. This may also be taken as an adjective qualifying रामगियाँश्रमेषु and may be dissolved as स्निग्धाः छायातरवः येषु ते । तेषु । तापसाना मनोज्ञाattracting the attention of ascetics. Kamatha, practising penance, was so much absorbed in meditation that he did not remember even his residence in the hermitage situated on the mountain रामगिरि.
Stanza 5 - This stanza describes the mountain area where Kamatha was practising penance. स्थपुटिततल: - having uneven surface.
