Chapter VI CONQUEST OF MIND
The mind is like a furious elephant which is very difficult to control. It can be controlled only by the goad of right knowlege.
To purify the mind, one should always concentrate on righteous meditation ( Dharma-Dhyāna). The mind should be constantly engaged in right reflections and kept away from evil thoughts.
It is said, "A Ta o ni Arui HERT:1” i. e., mind is the cause of both bondage and liberation.
Mind should be trained to make use of the senses, body, wealth, etc. for the welfare of the self and humanity. If the mind is affected by attachment and passions, it results in the bondage of the soul in the worldly sojourn. But if the mind is freed from attachment and passions, it leads to emancipation.
