Substantive cause is the true (real) cause. Here as defined above, No. 1 is the permanent substantive cause (Dhruva Upadan Karan) from the stand-point of substance (Dravyarthic Naya) No. 2 & 3 are the momentary substantive causes from the stand point of modification (Paryayar arthic Naya).
