Shri A. L. Sancheti a retired Railwayman with a stint in Electricity Industry, started writing as a hobby. He started with light humorous Essays and One Act Plays in English and Hindi. The Ghalib Centenary at Ajmer was celebrated in 1969 under his Chairmanship. Shri Sancheti's publication of Kalidas''Meghdutam' with Translations in verse in thirteen Indian languages was presented to the President of India and was much appreciated.
The publication of First Steps to Jainism in two parts is an attempt for making the principles of Jainism available in simple and concise form for laymen and scholars alike.
