(That consciouness) is one (from the universal point of view) and many (from the point of view of particulars), complete (with innate qualities) and devoid (of mundane transformations), contracted (in that it has the dimensions of the body) and spread out (in that it knows the entire universe), mysterious (to the uninstructed) and yet evident (to those who are wise), eternal (from the point of view of substance) and non-eternal (from the point of view of modes), pure (when only the states of liberation are viewed) and impure (when one notes only the mundane states). It is wondrous (by virtue of possessing these seemingly contradictory qualities), and is on every side endowed with shining glory, bursting forth, shining with infinite, majestic splendour, touching the entire universe, glowing with the power of its innate light.
