________________ aversion and passions. Therefore, Ācārya Shubhachandra says in Jñānārņava : A mind agitated by prāņāyāma is not healthy. When we forcibly stop inhaling and exhaling, it causes pain. That pain leads to a tormented state of mind that even disturbs a sage and he falls from his state of samādhi. In conclusion it may be said that in Jain Āgama literature a detailed scientific and psychological discussion on meditation is available. Many independent books on meditation have also been written.
