senses and the mind. Discrimination or Prajna is only possible, when there is something other than the destructible and painful objects. That which is other than the five senses and mind is the Nirvâna or the Pure Soul.
The Jain Saint Pujyapada Swami says in his Samadhi Sataka:
61
सर्वेन्द्रियाणि संयम्यस्तिमितेनान्तरात्मना ।
यत्क्षणं पश्यतो भाति तत्तत्वं परमात्मनः ॥ ३० ॥ Sarvendriyani samyamyastimitenântarâtmanâ— Yatkṣanam pasyatô bhâti tattattvam paramâtmanah, 30.
Having brought under control all the senses (and the mind), when that which is lighted there is internally seen, it is the nature of the pure soul."

Pannaye sampanno ham smi, ye hi vo ariya panna sampannâ aranne......tesam aham annatamo-etam aham brahmaṇa panna sampadam attani sampassamâno bhiyyo pallomam araṇne vihârâya.
