The Jain book Jnånârnava says:न प्रमाद जयं कर्तुं धीधनैरपि पार्यते । महा व्यसन संकीर्णे ग्रहवासेऽति निन्दिते ॥९॥ शक्यते न वशीकर्तु ग्रहिभिश्चपलं मनः । अतश्चित्त प्रशान्त्यर्थं सद्भिस्त्यक्ताग्रहे सथितिः ॥१०-४॥ Na pramâda jayam kartum dhidha nai rapi pâryate, Mahâ vyasana samkirne grahavâseti nindite 9 Sakyate na vasi kartum grahibhischapalam manah Ataśchita prasântyartham sadbhis-tyakta grahe sthitih 10/4 “Even the wise men cannot conquer the passions in house-hold life which is censurable and is full of many calamities.
