Two Universities honoured him with the D. Litt. degree, the Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, in 1967 and the Saurashtra University in 1973. The title of Padmabhūşana was bestowed upon him by the Government of India in 1974, while in 1975 Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, honoured him with honorary Vidyavāridhi Degree.
