1. After Bharata met his brother in the forest having tried in vain to bring him back to Ayodhya as king, Rama, Lakṣmaṇa and Sita left Citrakūta and went to Atri's hermitage.

5. Lakṣmaṇa cuts off the nose of demoness Surpanakha who had wooed for Rama and then for Lakṣmaṇa as a beautiful girl. Regaining her demon-body, she flies off.
