________________ Preface The L. D. Institute of Indology has great pleasure in publishing "Munisuvratasvamicarita" by a prominent scholar and poet of the later part of the twelfth century, Acarya Sricandrasuri. The work narrates in details thestory of nine great births of Munisuvratasvami with the first one as Sivaketu. The present work is a proof of his lofty scholarship and erudition. He shows himself also as a very good poet and is a master of the art of narration and fine descriptions. The work possesses all the traits of a of a Mahakavya. The medium of stories creates deep interest in the revelation of Jain philosophical and ethical doctrines which are laid down here in simple style, so that any interested reader can easily grasp. The editor, Pt. Rupendrakumar Pagaria with with a long experience of editing works of this type has taken utmost and scrupulous care in preparing this. critical edition. His Introduction in Hindi is also enlightening. We are thankful to Dr. H. C. Bhayani for his valuable Introduction and to Pt. Rupendrakumar for his careful and scientific editing of the work. It is sincerely hoped that the world of scholars will receive the present work with enthusiasm. 27-4-89 Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only Y. S.
