In Upanişads when an existing thing or a soul is described as Brahman then there is echoed there the feeling that the world is one, and when a soul is described as something lying deeper than body etc. then there is indicated there a direction to the idea that all souls are similar. Ultimately, in the context of non-violence and the allied basic vows-of-conduct the two words Brahman' and 'sama (=equal)' verily become synonymous,
In each and every field of individual and social life - that is, in the economic, educational, political, social and other fields -- it is today that there arises the maximum need for a true practice of non-violence based either on the idea that all souls are similar or on the idea that they are all one.
