attributed to Bappabhatti in BC. we find a similar state of affairs. The authorship of all these verses remains considerably doubtful.
0: the other hand it seems that the seven Gathās said to be sent by Bappabhatti as a part of retort to Ama's verses that stressed the sorry plight of the fomer when he was deprived of the latter's patronage are genuinely ascribed to our poet. The reason is that the group of these Gāthās is prefaced by a mnemonic Apabhraíša verse listing them by giving a key-word of each of them. This was a traditional device to record and protect the authorship of stray verses. It is quite likely that these Gāthās also were included in the Tārāyaṇa and figured in that portion which is now lost (see p. 10) These Gāthās along with the introductory contents verse are as follows :

गय माणसु चंदणु भमरु रयणायरु ससिखंड । जड-उच्छु य बपट्टि-किउ, सत्तय-गाहासंडु ॥ विझेण विणा वि गया नरिंद-भुवणेसु हुंति गारविया । विझो न होइ अगओ गएहिं बहुएहिं वि गएहि ।। माणस-रहिएहिं सुहाई जइ न भंति रायहंसेहिं । तह तस्स वि तेहि विणा तीरूच्छंगा न सोहंति ॥ मलओ सचंदणो च्चिय नइ-मुह-हीरंत-चंदण-दुमाहो । पन्भट्ट पि हु मलयाउ चंदणं जायइ महग्धं ॥ अग्यायति महुयरा विमुक्क-कमलोयरा वि मयरंदं । कमलायरो वि दिट्ठो सुओ व किं महुअर-विहीणो ॥ एक्केण कोत्थुहेण विणा वि रयणायरो च्चिय समुद्दो। कोत्थुह-रयणं पि उरे जस्स ठिओ सो वि हु महग्यो ।
