FOREWORD
By the grace of Supreme Lord Arihanta Paramātmā and my father revered gurudeva Munirāja Śrī Bhuvanavījayaji Maharaja, the critical edition of the Siddhahemacandra-Śabdānuśāsana with the auto-commentary Rahasyavṛtti is placed before the people who are interested in Sanskṛta language and its grammer.
At the request of Siddharāja Jayasimha the king of Gujarāta Rajya, the well known Acarya Hemacandra wrote this wonderful Sanskṛta and Prākṛta grammer.
Acarya Hemacandra was born in the year 1145 of Vikrama erå and lived up to 1229 of Vikrama era.
About Acārya Hemacandra so much has been written by so many scholars. Acārya Hemacandra holds unique position among Sanskrta grammarians.
The Siddhahemacandra Sabdanuśāsana consists of main eight divisions called Adhyāyas. Each Adhyāya consists of four subdivisions called Pādas. Each Päda consists of several Aphorisms (Sūtras).
The number of the Sutras in every Adhyāya and every Pāda is given in the following table.
