तत्प्राप्य विरतिरत्नं विरागमार्गविजयो दुरधिगम्यः । इन्द्रियकषायगौरवपरीषहसपत्नविधुरेण ।।१६४।।
Even after obtaining that jewel of non-attachment, victory (over worldlyobjects) (practice) of path of non-attachment is very difficult to obtain by one who is confounded by enemies in the form of sense (objects), passions, pleasures and..hardships. 164
.
:- तस्मात्परीषहेन्द्रियगौरवगणनायकान् कषायरिपून् । ..
क्षान्तिवलमार्दवार्जवसन्तोषैः साधयेद्धारः ॥१६५॥
Therefore, one who is wise, has to conquer the enemies in the form of passions which are the leaders of group of hardships, sense (objects) and pleasures by (the army of) forgiveness, modesty, straightforwardness and coatent. 165 .
सश्चिन्त्य कषायाणामुदयनिमित्तमुपशान्तिहेतु च । त्रिकरणशुद्धमपि तयोः:- परिहारसेवने कार्ये ॥१६६।।
इति भावनाधिकारः ॥९॥
Reflecting on the cause of rise and annihilation of passions, with pure mind, speech and body, one has to reject and accept them respecti"vely (i. e., one has to avoid cause of passions and : adopt the cause of their cessation). 166
