Samakkasā ( Samutkarşā ) See Vesamaņapabha.
1. BhaA. pp. 203-4. 1. Samaņa (Šramaņa) One of the two major sects, Samaņa and Māhaņa," non-Vedic and Vedic respectively, of Ancient India. Five sects of Samaņas are mentioned. They are Niggamtha, Sakka(2), Tāvasa(4), Geruya or Parivvāyaga and Ajiviya. They used to perform penances therefore they were called Samanas. The word Samana is explained variously, 1.
