INTRODUCTION
written by Manikya-Candra who is well-known as the author of the commentary Sanketa, of Kavya-Prakāsa. The fourth Prasasti occurs at the end of Prabhā vaka Caritra written by Prabha-Candra. 1 Out of the four Prasastis, the author of the first, Santi Süni, died in 1096 Vikram Samvat. The 2nd Prasasti was written in 1248 Vikram Samvat. The 3rd was written in 1276, and the 4th was written in 1334 Vikram Samvat.
All these four Prasastis mention Abhaya-Deva as belonging to Candra-Gaccha school. This school came to be known as Raja Gaccha later on through the disciples of Abhayadeva. Santi-sūri, while mentioning his two preceptors refers to Abhayadeva as his preceptor in logic. It seems from the circumstantial इती रोधाय चकार तासां ग्रन्थं नवं वादमहार्णव यः ॥ ७ ॥
श्री अभय दे वसू रिस्तच्छिष्यस्तर्कभूरभूत् ।
भग्रासना लितुमुलादु गौर्यदास्यमशिश्रियत् ॥ २६ ॥
जडोल्लासेन सन्मार्गभेदिनीं दृक्तरङ्गिणीम् । रोद्ध ं चकार स न ग्रन्थं वादमहार्णवम् ॥ ३० ॥"
