INTRODUCTION
that this tract is copied from the Kuvalayamālākahā. The entire text included in this Part, except the first four verses in the beginning composed for the sake of symmetry, is from the Kuvalayamālākahā. The concerned palm-leaf manuscript belonging to the Khetaravasī Pādā Bhandara has yielded correct readings at those places where there are corrupt readings in the printed text of the Kuvalayamālākahā. From this it naturally follows that the manuscript belonging to the Khetaravasi Pāḍā Bhandara is copied from some ancient manuscript belonging to the family different from the one to which the manuscripts utilised in the editing of the printed Kuvalayamālākahā belong.
Muni Shri Punyavijayaji got prepared a copy of all the eight tracts from the 5th to the 12th item in the Contents, when he organized the Bhaṇḍāras at Jesalmer in V.S. 2006-2008. He has not written any note recording manuscripts utilised in the preparation of the copy. So I conducted search for the manuscripts on the basis of the experience I acquired through my long association with him. As a result, I found a palm-leaf manuscript (Book No. 151) belonging to the Jesalmer Bhanḍāra, which contained a collection of the concerned eight tracts. It was this manuscript that formed the basis of the copy. The information regarding these eight tracts is as follows.
The Siri Abhayadevapaniyam Ārāhaṇāpayarnam', the fifth item in the Contents of this Part, is listed under sub-number 5 of the above-mentioned palm-leaf manuscript (No. 151) belonging to the Jesalmer Bhaṇḍāra. Having got prepared the copy on the basis of this manuscript, Muni Shri Punyavijayaji recorded variants yielded by another palm-leaf manuscript of the same Bhaṇḍāra.
Muni Shri Punyavijayaji got prepared a copy of the 'Jinaseharasavayam pai Sulasasavayakäräviyā ā rähana', the sixth item in the Contents, on the basis of the sub-number 12 of the above mentioned palm leaf manuscript No. 151 belonging to the Jesalmer Bhaṇḍāra. In the printed Catalogue, the title of this tract is Upadeśakulaka'. I have changed it into Jinaseharasāvayaṁ pai Sulasasavayakārāviyā Ārädhana', considering the latter to be more informative. There exists in the Jesalmera Bhaṇḍāra a paper manuscript written in V.S. 1983 on the basis of the above-mentioned palm-leaf manuscript No 151, (see the Catalogue of the manuscripts in the Jeşalmera Bhandara, No 134 (11), p. 197). In this newly written paper manuscript, the title of the tract is Sulasaaradhanaprakarana'. During the period that intervened between handing over the complete press copy of this Part to the printing press and receiving
